Blurb Description: Five teens embark on a summer of vigilante good samaritanism in a novel that's part The Breakfast Club, part The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks, and utterly captivating.
Rising high school senior Sadie is bracing herself for a long, lonely, and boring summer. But things take an unexpected turn when she steps into help rescue a baby in distress and a video ofher good deed goes viral.
Suddenly internet-famous, Sadie's summer changes for the better when she's introduced toother "hometown heroes." These five very different teens form an unlikely alliance to secretlyright local wrongs, but when they try to help a heroin-using friend, they get in over their heads and discover that there might be truth in the saying "no good deed goes unpunished." Can Sadie and her new friends make it through the summer with their friendships--and anonymity--intact?
This rich and thought-provoking novel takes on timely issues and timeless experiences with a winning combination of romance, humor, and wisdom.

1)    Your top five fictional character's you'd love to have as friends:

I scanned my favorite books list and decided I’d love to go on an RV road trip adventure with: Aaron (from More Happy Than Not), Glory (from Glory O’Brien’s History of the Future), Katniss (from The Hunger Games), Starr (from The Hate U Give), and Arnold (from The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian)!

2)    If you could watch one TV Show/ Movie for the rest of your life, which one would it be?

Game of Thrones!

3)   How was the writing of your second book different from your first one?

The first book came pouring out of me. It was almost as if a ghost had inhabited my body and
decided to write a book through my fingers. The second book was a slower, more collaborative
process with my amazing (and very patient) editor.

4)    If you could give one piece of advice to your main characters what would it be?

Teenager me would tell them to do their thing because you only live once. Mom me would say, “Are
you kidding me? You could have been killed! You’d better find a home-based hobby because you are
never leaving the house again!”

5)    What was the hardest scene to write in The Unlikelies?

The scene where Sadie and Alice go looking for their friend in a “trap house.” It was much more graphic when I first wrote it, but I had to tone it down for a teen audience. Addicts suffer immeasurable pain and anguish and I could feel myself being emotionally drawn into their world.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to answer these creative and thought-provoking questions!
-- My pleasure, Carrie. It is WONDERFUL to have you on my blog!

Carrie Firestone has lived in rural, urban, and suburban places, and, while she currently lives in the suburbs, she is decidedly a CITY person. She loves parties, and all kinds of music, and books about random people doing random things in random places. She loves to travel with her husband, and two daughters, Lauren and Emily. When she isn’t writing, you might find her reluctantly sharing her popcorn at the movies, trying to get people (or dogs) to do a conga line, or adding items to her loose ends list.
