Meet The Author: Robin Roe, A List Of Cages - Interview + Giveaway

Hi Again Everyone!

I'm SO SORRY I didn't post anything yesterday for Meet The Authors, I was waiting to hear back from the author's publicist about some final giveaway details.

I have with me today the WONDERFUL Robin Roe whose debut novel, A List Of Cages came out just last week. I had the opportunity to read and FALL UTTERLY IN LOVE with this book (there were tears involved. In bucket-loads)

You can read my review of A List Of Cages here, read the interview with Robin below and don't forget to ENTER the giveaway below!

Welcome to the blog, Robin! I am SO EXCITED TO HAVE YOU HERE!
We'd LOVE To Get To Know More About You:

1.      If you were a superhero, and you could choose your superpower, what would it be?
I wish I could teleport. There are so many people I’d
like to visit, but they live so far away!

2.      What's the last book you read
The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner. It was incredible!

3.      How many languages do you speak
I speak some Spanish and Italian, but I’m not fluent. I wish I were!

And now, Moving Onto Your Masterpiece:

4.      Tell us the biggest surprise you had during the publishing process
I was terrified about showing my book to anyone. It had been finished for over a year before I finally
submitted it to agents. My hope was that someone—anyone—would connect with it. It was a huge
surprise to me when the response was overwhelmingly positive, and my book sold at auction.

5.      Tell us a little about A List of Cages and why we NEED to read it
A List Of Cages is about a 17-year-old boy named Adam who’s serving as an aide to the school
psychologist. When she asks him to track down the troubled freshman that keeps dodging her, Adam
discovers the younger boy is Julian—the foster brother he hasn’t seen in five years. Adam is ecstatic
to be reunited but soon realizes Julian is keeping secrets that could cost both boys their lives.

A List Of Cages addresses a number of difficult topics such a grief, child abuse, mental illness, and learning disabilities. My hope is that this book will help anyone who’s dealing with these issues, and also increase empathy and understanding towards this population.

6.      If you could give one piece of advice to your main characters, what would it be
Bad things may happen to you but that doesn't mean they are you. You can rise above your story.

Robin Roe has a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and a master’s from Harvard. She counseled adolescents in Boston before she moved to Dallas to run a mentoring program for at-risk teens.

Blurb Description: When Adam Blake lands the best elective ever in his senior year, serving as an aide to the school psychologist, he thinks he's got it made. Sure, it means a lot of sitting around, which isn't easy for a guy with ADHD, but he can't complain, since he gets to spend the period texting all his friends. Then the doctor asks him to track down the troubled freshman who keeps dodging her, and Adam discovers that the boy is Julian--the foster brother he hasn't seen in five years.
Adam is ecstatic to be reunited. At first, Julian seems like the boy he once knew. He's still kind hearted. He still writes stories and loves picture books meant for little kids. But as they spend more time together, Adam realizes that Julian is keeping secrets, like where he hides during the middle of the day, and what's really going on inside his house. Adam is determined to help him, but his involvement could cost both boys their lives.
